Alyssa is one of the great designers that we work with. She excels at website design, and we think she has done a particularly good job on some of these sites: 218gsp.com; jeffhowardauthor.com; and www.norconltd.com. Here you will see that she likes big and bold typography backed by well-thought-out color schemes.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Aitkin, MN
How did where you grew up mold your aesthetic/perspective?
I think living in such a small town made me look for something bigger. I always had a love for art, but I didn’t really develop my taste or aesthetic until I moved to Chicago for college. There I went to school for Fashion Design, but close to graduation, I realized I enjoyed layout and design more than construction.
What do you think makes an excellent website?
Personality. I feel like anyone can learn the basics or fundamentals, but I enjoy websites where that designer’s unique style shows.
What are some of your favorite types of websites to design?
I really enjoy doing the author’s websites or anything I get to be a bit creative with. In college, I designed a mock site for a record store and had a lot of fun with interactions and typography.
What do you think are the most important aspects of a quality website design?
The most important aspects of a quality site are useability and accessibility. Making a site that is straightforward and easy for users, I think, is the goal for any web designer.
